It is notified that, There are some Shops near technopark where the bill amount for individual items will be increased by certain percentage ( say 3.5% ) if the customers are giving Sodexo Meal Pass.
When enquired with Sodexo , they informed that we need not pay anything extra on any food item at any of Sodexo affiliated outlets. They have requested to kindly forward them ([email protected] ) the contact details of the affiliate where we have faced this problem, so that they can direct their team for necessary action.

Only place I know who are charging additional amount is one Supermarket in Kazhakoottam. But they allow non-food items also to be paid with Sodexo pass. As per sodexo rule, the pass must be exchased with food items only.
We can forgive this considering this fact I think. Techies opt for sodexo just for tax benifits so this we can consider as a good act.

Dont complaint if you did not get balance ‘money’. Rule also says, you will not get any money instead shop guys can return equal valued sodexo passes if avaialble.

This is contradictory. If we are paying Sodexo + 3.5% for an item, balance should be either Sodexo + 3.5% or money. Isnt it?
The extra charging on the Sodhexo is followed by one shop i visited is the Margin free @ Kunnil Heights Near the near Infy campus .Once billed if you are paying by Sodhexo they charge 3.5% extra .Am not very sure whether they are affilated store of Sodhexo ,but then they accept coupons .But we also have a gud practise in some restaurants in TP where they give balance by way of sodhexo coupons itself .

Some of the Margin free shops in TVM city (one behind Poojapura ground) is also charging 3.5% extra.
I had faced the similar problem with Hyper Market near Kunnil heights in the bye pass road as well as the Margin free market in Kazhakootam Jn

This could be because sodhexo chargers 3.5% service charge upon encashment of the the coupons
But what is the actual benifit of getting sodexho coupons? What i heard is the tax advantage, which was getting earlier is not there with the sodexho coupons. Tax is applicable for sodexho also. so what is the point in getting such coupons?
Anybody who is having a better idea, please help me to understand it.
Earlier there was a tax benifit up to Rs. 3000 but now it is only 1300 Max. Some HRs may clarify this.
No any shops/restaurants are supposed to collect service charge etc. We have the provision to complaint.
From a marchant’s point of vew, they have to pay service charge when they encash the coupons. Same case with credit cards. May be they are pushing this amount to customers.

List all those shops details who charge extra money so that we can send to Sodexo.
Most of the margin free shop charge extra 3% or so.In that case we are already getting a discount of more than 3% from MRP.If someone charges more than MRP then we can complain.But as far as i know the margin free shops are selling at a price lesser than that.So even if we add 3% is it less than MRP.Correct me if am wrong.
We are going to a Margin Free shop to buy items at a lower price than MRP. By charging 3.5% extra, we are actually not getting the items at a discounted rate. So in effect , Margin Free Shop is like any other shop if we are paying in Sodexo.
Also , Sodexo is not allowing any affiliate to charge anything extra from the end user while accepting Sodexo Pass. By becoming an affiliate of Sodexo ( As Meal Pass is given on the regular basis) , a loyal set of customers will come to their store for redemption and the business also increases. So the shops are taking the advantages of becoming an affiliate of sodexo , but charging extra which is against the rule set by sodexo .
How do we know whether a shop is an affiliate of Sodexho?
Shops will be showing Sodexo logo (sticker/badge) in front of the shop or at the cash counter.

Today I inquired the details of sodexo food coupon to one of affiliated store at Palakkad. The shop was not charging extra service charge from customers. But they told me that Sodexo company is deducting 3% from shop owners when they redeem the coupons for money. Shop owners need to send the coupons to Mumbai through courier, and after a month of waiting they will get the money(3% will be deducted) as a cheque. So the trouble to be borne by shop owners are 3% service charge, courier charge, the risk of sending coupons through courier and a waiting of 1 month to get their money.

In Bangalore most of the retailers are not accepting sodexo food coupons from January 1st – 2012. In one of the sites I found that they have increased the tax from 3.5% to 7%. Is this same in Kerala also ?

Tell your company that, you don’t need the sodexo coupons anymore. in some companies they have options to opt out the sodexo.
Sodexo coupons are accepting in junk food restaurants in technopark. nobody else is accepting it anymore.
