TechnoparkToday.com>> September3, 2014: UST Global, a leading provider of IT services and solutions for Global 1000 companies, had over 5000 USsociates (UST Global employees) getting together to celebrate the spirit of Kerala’s harvest festival – Onam. The 5000-plus USsociates represented the spirit of India, being from the many states of India, and working from UST Global’s campus in Technopark.
The celebrations were spread across 3 days, from the 1st of September to the 3rd of September. The first and second days saw USscociates come together for the Sadhya (the traditional grand Onam feast) at the Bhavani and Nila buildings, the second day had the traditional Thiruvathirakali dance competitions by USsociates at the Bhavani atrium. The Thiruvathirakali competition was judged by Shilpa Menon and Dr Priya Prem.
On the third day, a variety of programmes, including a Pookkalam (floral carpet) contest, Best Maveli (Legendary king of Kerala) contest, Best Traditionally Dressed Female and Male employee contest, Sack Race and Tug of War, were organized. Famed folk singer Jayachandran Kadambanad was the judge for Pookkalam, Maveli and Best Dressed Female / Male competitions.
Speaking on the celebrations, Alexander Varghese, Chief Administrative Officer, UST Global said – “The true spirit of Onam is clearly seen in our celebrations – more than 5000 of our USsociates from diverse cultures, states and religion at UST Global’s Trivandrum center are enjoying and spreading the joy of the season. This would be the largest celebration of its kind in Kerala. The camaraderie amongst USsociates is seen on such occasions, whether it is a season celebration or a CSR initiative like Yummy Aid that had happened recently”
