Though more than 35,000 employees work at Technopark, the IT hub still lacks a 24-hour medical dispensary. In case of a medical emergency, the techies here have to depend on private hospitals at Kazhakootam or Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS). The techies complain that though there is a private clinic on the campus(Ojus), which functions between 9 pm and 5 pm, does not have the required facilities and IT professionals are reluctant to visit it.
“We are forced to depend on private hospitals or Medical College Hospital. This is one of the prime IT hubs in the state and the government is bound to provide basic medical facilities for us. The private clinic here is not reliable. We need a 24-hour dispensary,” said Biju K. P., an IT professional.
“The private clinic here does not have sufficient beds and medicine. There is no medical store facility as well and we have to purchase all the prescribed medicines from outside. It is high time the Government started a dispensary here,” said Mridul Raj. Â More than half the employees work on late night shifts and since the private clinic shuts at 5 pm it is of no use to them. Â “Sometimes you may not find even a doctor in the dispensary. In the event of an emergency there’s nothing much one can do,” said Nithin, another techie.
However, the Technopark authorities say there is a 24-hour ambulance service available in the campus and they haven’t received any demands from the employees.

No one from Technopark visiting Ojus, the dispensary at Technomall. Everyone going to other hospitals due to Mediclaim availability. In case of emergency, we can go to AJ hospital. 24 hrs ambulance service is available in technopark and 108 ambulances are operating from technopark.
But technopark itself is a biggest community why can’t we expand the medical facilities of technopark, or start a hospital so that both techies and outsides can come. like the banks and financial institutions in Technomall, Technopark?
We have condom vending machine, but not medical store.

Well said praveen. We need at least a good medial store and medical facilities in technopark. What I heard is some of the companies within technopark having their own small clinic within their facilities. like in UST they have a clinic with in their company, a doctore an nurse and an assistant would be there all the time, so if any employee needs any immediate medical attention, they will take care of till they get the detailed medical help. it includes the first aid.
following this by every company may not be possible. so a common medical facility is very much needed in technopark.
Infact, I was suggesting the Medical dispensary long back, through this forum.
A 10 bedded hospital with all diagnostic facilities (X-Ray, CT and MRI) would be ideal. 1 acre of land is sufficient for this. Land is not problem, given the fact that large parcels of land available towards the north side of technopark.
The Hospital can be exempted from all kinds of tax levied from other establishments. Investor only needs to pay the rent to the builder. The hospital can listed under the mediclaim facility, so that majority of technoparkians can access the facility.
Technopark through tender, can invite interested parties for constructing the building. The agreement shall be Build Operate and Transfer mechanism.
I request the authorities to take quick action on this.
