TechnoparkToday.Com >>Technopark, in association with the Indian arm of the US-based Degree Controls Inc. will kick start theseventh edition of TechTop 2012 at Park Centre, Technopark from 18 to 20 July 2012.  TechTop has nowgained the brand image as one of the most sought after events by engineering students across the country as a platform to showcase their innovations and an opportunity to realize their entrepreneurial dreams. The highlight of this year’s event is a seminar on IPR, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and is exclusively for the participating students and their guides.
TechTop is an All India Engineering Students project competition jointly organized by Degree Controls and supported by Technopark TBI and IEEE and Executive Knowledge Lines for the prestigious Degree C award, the one which offers largest prize money in this class. This competition was conceived by Degree C and actively supported and actively supported Technopark for spreading the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. All projects selected after final screening shall be considered for incubation support from Technopark
Dr V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Executive Vice President of Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environmentwill inaugurate the exhibition on 19th morning at 10am. The Award Ceremony of TechTop 2012 is scheduled to be conducted at 3.30 pm on 20thJuly 2012.
Over 138project applications were received from 9 states across the countrythis year. 54 projects were shortlisted for the final roundof which, 18 teams were selected tocontest in the final phase by a high level screening committee. Out of these, 15 teamswith participation fromDelhi, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala will showcase their innovations at this three day event. For the first time a team from IIT Delhi is participating in this event.
The most innovative, socially relevant and commercially exploitable projects get a cash award of Rs.One Lakh sponsored by Degree Controls. Cash Awards and Consolation prizes sponsored by other institutionswill be awarded to otherselectedcontestants. Â A special award for Best Business Proposal and one for the best All Women team will also be given away.
The Project Exhibition will be open to public from 11 am on July 19till noon of 20thJuly. The project presentations will be evaluated alongside by a Technical Committee headed by Prof.V.K.Damodaranat Technopark.
On July 20thin connection with TechTop 2012 a TechQuiz (A Science Quiz) is being organized for the High School & Higher Secondary Students in Trivandrum. The quiz masters shall be Mr. R Narayanan, former Vice President (Learning and Development) TCS

There are many software, robotic, healthcare, telecommunication, textile projects proposed by the young engineering aspirants. All the participating teams would enjoy the handholding support from the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of Technopark, Trivandrum, the host and amajor sponsor of the Event. The TBI of Technopark is acclaimed to be one of the best in the country and is supported by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt. of India. They will be given Infrastructure and Lab facility for developing their products in the Technopark TBI.
Technopark is a TePP Outreach Centre (TUC) of Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR) of the Government of India. TePP funding is available to the young innovators for each stage of evolution of their idea, namely support for making prototypes of their products, product development and patenting and finally commercialization of the idea. Even for those students who are not keen on becoming entrepreneurs, participation in this Contest would provide a platform for transferring their innovative ideas to other entrepreneurs for a know-how fee.
