TechnoparkToday.Com >> In the age of rising cyber crimes, a new communication device comes to the aid of worried parents.
Safecomm, a 4-key GSM phone developed by Technopark-based Accentia Technologies, can make calls to only four programmed numbers. The device lacks display screen, SMS facility, internet, and camera.
Using Safecomm, parents can keep a track on their children. An SMS sent to Safecomm will give a reply to them specifying the location of their child.
In order to equip the children with quick response during an emergency situation, Safecomm has an SOS button, which on activation dials all the stored four numbers until one of them is answered. On pressing the SOS button, message will be sent to all four numbers intimidating that the user needs help.
To safeguard the user from unwanted calls, the hotkeys of the device are configured only through the principal user’s (parent’s) mobile phone. This single SIM phone has four different ring tones and separate flashes to indicate callers’ identity.
“The inspiration for Safecomm came from rising reports about crime against schoolchildren, girls and ladies. We wanted to come out with a solution where misusing mobiles can be avoided among school/college students. Safecomm is a completely safe device for students at all levels and the parents will have total peace of mind even if they are away from their kidsâ€, Said Pradeep Viswambharan, MD & CEO of Accentia Technologies Ltd.
Safecomm is also a simple communication tool for elderly members of the family who find it difficult to use modern devices.  In addition to simple features, the SOS button will be helpful for senior citizens during emergency medical conditions.
The price of Safecomm is Rs. 2,999. Â After its launch, which is tentatively fixed on November 15, the device will be available in all major retail outlets, mobile stores, and online shops. Â Â Accentia Technologies is gearing up for its global launch soon.
