Australian High Commission Visits Technopark

TechnoparkToday.Com>> April, 2013: A high level delegation from Australian High Commission, New Delhi, headed by H E Patrick Suckling, High Commissioner along with Mr. David Holly, Consul General in South India, Australian Consulate General and Mr. Roshen Paul, Australian Trade Office visited Technopark. The delegation was received by Shri P H Kurian IAS, Principal Secretary – IT, Mr K G Girish Babu, CEO Technopark along with Mr M Vasudevan, Senior Business Development Technopark.

Mr P H Kurian welcomed the guests and spoke about the opportunities that are available for Australian IT Companies to invest in Kerala and requested the High Commissioner to examine possibilities of trade tie-ups between Australian and Kerala based IT Companies. He also wanted support for the Kerala IT Team which is planning to participate in CeBIT Australia in the month of May 2013.

“Kerala IT is on its way to become the next IT power house, and would become a major investment destination especially with the boost we are giving for innovative startups blooming out. A suitable tie up with the Australian government for mutual support will benefit both the countries tremendously.” He added.

Technopark CEO, Girish Babu made a detailed presentation on the opportunities available in Kerala for Australian companies. “The cost of operations is Kerala is 30% cheaper and the main advantage for companies who have set their campuses in Technopark is that they run 99 per cent of the time on grid power where as in other locations, companies have to use up to 80 per cent DG power which is very expensive. In continuity he said that the state was superior to other destinations in the county”.

Australian High Commissioner, HE Patrick Suckling said he would be pleased to have more business relations with Kerala and Australia and assured all support for the Kerala IT team visiting Australia next month. “We are trying to forge strong business relationship with India and I am amazed to see the development taken place in Technopark in the last few years as I visit Kerala frequently.”

Mr David Holly explained that most of the Australian Regions have trade offices in India and he would extend all support to the Kerala IT Team.

Experion CEO Mr. Binu Jacob proposed the vote of thanks and also said that many of the SME companies from Kerala are focused on Australia as they can work together for the Australian as well as the global market.

Mr. M Vasudevan later took the delegation for a quick campus tour.
