Visually Challenged Students Complete their Course from Infopark

TechnoparkToday.com>> July 24, 2013:  A group of 10 visually challenged students completed their 8-month course which was enabled by speech enabled software titled Job Access With Speech (JAWS) and were given official send off from Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged in Infopark. Well known Malayalam film director and screenwriter, Siddique, the leading television anchor cum model, Ranjini Haridas were also present for the function.

Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged (SRVC) in collaboration with ‘Rotary Club of Cochin Global’ (RCG) operates a full-fledged computer centre in Infopark which trains the visually challenged in computers, mobility and communicative English. With these three skill sets, they are able to commute to their work place independently and perform any sedentary job such as those involved with back office, call centre, telemarketing, customer service etc.

“There are sharp areas in the case of visually and mentally challenged in order to cope with their abnormality. So with those extra skills they can really match with any normal person and the 8 month course at Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged (SRVC) in Infopark has moulded and shaped them and I wish all the very best to these graduating students,” said Infopark CEO, Hrishikesh Nair.

Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged (SRVC) has been able to train and secure employment for many in reputed organizations like Wipro, Cisco, Taj, Le Meridien, Eastern Group, Red Bus, Muthoot, Choice School, Sunrise Hospital etc. Each batch has 10 students and it is the 8th batch competing its coaching at the center.

“We don’t charge the students for tuition, boarding or lodging. But the fact is that the message is not effectively reaching the most eligible students who are waiting to join a course like this or employers who are ready to absorb trained students completing our course,” said M. C. Roy, Project Head, Society for Rehabilitation of the Visually Challenged (SRVC).

The interactive session with the visually challenged students at SRVC Centre was followed by lunch with the students at Infopark cafeteria area. Ranjini Haridas, Infopark CEO, Hrishikesh Nair, M. C. Roy, Project Head SRVC, Sunil J. Mathew, Secretary SRVC Centre, Paulson Xavier, Regional Business Support HR Manager, Taj Hotels, Dr. Rajesh,  Le Meridien, Parveen Hafeez, Managing Director, Sunrise Hospitals, Jose Dominic, managing director Casino Group of Hotel and Infopark officials also joined with the visually challenged students for the lunch.
