TechnoparkToday.com>> July 23, 2014: A Technopark employee having account in SBI Technopark Branch, Kazhakuttom, lost her hard-earned money in an ATM fraud. Trivandrum-based Rohini S Pillai only realized that she lost Rs. 80, 000 after getting SMS alerts following the fraud withdrawal from an ATM counter in Maharashtra through six transactions.
She immediately contacted the bank’s customer support and blocked the ATM card. The card was never lost or she has never shared the pin number with anyone. She never used this card for any online transactions and she is sure, she never shared her account number or any bank details with anyone.
Ironically, the bank, SBI Technopark, Kazhakuttom branch, is trying to blame the customer for the loss of money. While the bank has the visuals of a man withdrawing money from an ATM machine in Khargar, Maharashtra, they have not taken any action to trace the culprit.
Rohini explains her plight to TechnoparkToday.com, “I gave a written complaint to the concerned SBI branch and reported the crime to the local police station on the same day. As a further proceeding, I have given the copy of FIR filed in the local police station to the SBI branch in Technopark”
“I was keeping the ATM card with the belief that keeping it safe and having a secret password will keep my money safe in the bank, but now the situation made me thinking in a negative way. Recently, when I talked to the concerned manager, he was trying to put the blame on me. He was saying that I may have passed the card and pin details through mail to some fraud sites.
It was informed that the complaint is passed to the higher authorities for resolution. It is very unfortunate that it has been more than 3 months since the complaint is registered and I did not get any positive response from the banking authority on reimbursement of the money that I have lost.” Rohini Said to TechnoparkToday.com.
contacting sbi bank for some help… good joke. SBI is the worst customer care bank ever seen, Staffs are arrogant in almost all branch, they have the ego that they are working in a great firm, nor they bother about customers. I happened to a customer of SBI Branch Technopark and I suffered a lot. For a 5 mts thing, they will take 5 days. The authorities should take strict action to protect the SBI customers, otherwise the bank will be in the some unions, staffs won’t bother to serve customers even. SBI staffs and managment should learn how Axis and other customer oriented banks doing, and should train their arrogants staffs how to behave with customers.
wow…whom we have to contact for justice..??? as all ways, SBI is providing very poor customer support.
A simple google search of the theft will give you lots of results about how its done. If a nationalized bank like SBI dose’nt know about this, then pity on them.

This is truly shocking…. Our ATM cards are no more safe. The attitude of the bank authorities is most unfortunate.
Yes, everyone is having the same opinion on the customer support of SBI. BUt still no change in their attitudes. And this case is a security flaw of bank and how come they can blame the customer, even after having enough proof.
If the bank and police is like this – what is the assurance for our money in bank? even after they got the CCTV footage, and its very evident that some fraud activities happened, the bank should take up the responsibility. 80K is not a small amount of money. and moreover it can happen any of us.
WTF
This seems like SBI customer database compromised, more incidents to follow be prepared.
What ?
No assurance …. now they blame the customer lost
. SBI is the worst customer care bank
The banks should take steps to ensure the safety of user’s credentials.
Looks like there are others who have lost the same amount from their account.
They should file a joint complaint against the bank and show that its not an isolated incident !! This might even be done by someone working in SBI !!
Fit case for her to write to the General Manager in charge of Customer Grievance at SBI, wait for a month for her matter to be resolved; and if not, to raise a complaint before the Banking Ombudsman.
Welcome to India…
Indians are the most intelligent peoples…. welcome to India
i suspect the Reliance on this..
what the fuckennu..
thalle………..
because they are one of the oldest bank and its employees are also very old in their age and attitude.
dude, please don’t make fun here, this is a serious matter, and you are making fun with that? hell with you man. stay away
The same thing can happen any of their customers – so the bank should take preventive and corrective measures on such incidents. The victim says she never used this card for any online transactions – then how somebody can get her ATM card details including her pin? – Card duplication is possible and it seems many people are doing it – but getting the PIN – how they got it is the matter the bank should investigate.
They can implement a two stage security mechanism like when we transfer money to some other accounts – ATM pin and a one time password which can be delivered to customers phone to withdraw money. Else under what assurance the bank customers can continue with the bank?
Reliance or not, the customer data security got compromised somewhere – they got the card details along with her PIN. – Bank and police has to investigate about that first.
it can happen anyone of us. so please beware of online banking fraud. there are lot methods the criminals are using to get the card information – like the skimmer or a fake keypad on the ATM Machine.
So always check the ATM machines before you operate it, also make sure that your phone alerts are ON – so that whenever you make a transaction, you will get a message on your phone – but sometimes it may get delayed hours, but still.
See the video a police man explaining how this happened in maharashtra. I’m sure this is the case here also.

its not just SBI, every bank put blame on customer, and my worst experience was PNB. recently 12000 rupee has been withdrew from my account and when i called PNB branch they said sir, its your mistake, you give ATM to somebody and they deny to fill a complaint regarding that issue.
