National Games Kerala 2015: Multi-purpose Website is Ready for Launch

TechnoparkToday.com>> October 4,2014:  www.kerala2015.com, the upgraded National Games website will be the hub that hosts various online IT modules of the Games management system besides being the depository of much of the static and dynamic information and news of and around the Games.

The new multi-purpose portal that has been Live since the past two months, will be officially launched with the inauguration of the online registration of the Games Facilitators later this month. About 10000 volunteers are expected to register through the portal for selection to be part of the Games workforce.

All components of the Information and Communication Technology solution being built for the Games will also be integrated with the portal, the most important of which will be the Results management module. Event results and scorecards, rankings, medal tallies, standings, etc. are to be updated dynamically on the site during the progress of the Games. There will also be direct links to sharing sites such as YouTube, for easy access of Games’ related images and videos. The portal will also be equipped to provide Live Feeds to Social Networking Sites like Facebook and Twitter.

Kerala2015.com will have an integrated ‘Push’ and ‘Pull’ SMS facility for forwarding SMS alerts both on demand (pull) and on prescribed schedules (push) to participants as well as anybody else who has registered for the service. One can pull pertinent information using simple and easy-to-use query formats. Portal shall also support bulk information dissemination (daily schedules, daily results etc.) through SMS (push mechanism) to registered numbers. The contact details of participants received during online accreditation shall be used to push information relevant to them, through SMS, at regular intervals. Spectators or general public who wish to receive regular and free updates can register their contact numbers after this facility is activated.

Content on the site also includes details of Kerala sports heroes and legends who have won prestigious awards or represented India at the Olympics. A separate section similarly covers the current Indian stars who have been winning medals for India in select global competitions. There is also a rare collection of World, Asian and Indian national records in athletics, swimming and weightlifting.

The various Games-related handbooks and manuals being developed for various functional areas handled by independent Committees of NGOC will be hosted on the portal for easy and “anywhere” access.

The Games’ ICT partner, CMC LTD, has developed the site, with graphical and layout design supported by the Games’ Creative Agency, Stark Communications Ltd. Content for the site is generated by the Portal team of NGOC.

The portal is search enabled with all major search engines like Google, Bing & Yahoo, and is also compatible with all commonly used browsers such as Explorer, Chrome, Firefox & Safari. It is also mobile compatible for both handsets and tablet devices, and also compliant with the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites (GIGW).
