Friendship Day celebrations at Technopark

Friendship Day celebrations take place on the first Sunday of August every year. The tradition of dedicating a day in honor of friends began in US in 1935. Gradually the festival gained popularity and today Friendship Day is celebrated in a large number of countries including India. On this day people spend time with their friends and express love for them. Exchange of Friendship Day Gifts like flowers, cards and wrist bands is popular tradition on this occasion.

Technoparkians also celebrated friendship day in its full spirit. They gathered on the special dance floor at Ginger, Technopark and celebrated by partying and dancing. The entire event was organized by the Team Arun’s. And DJ Charls rocked the dance floor with his dance numbers.

Team Arun’s was elated when Café Coffee Day asked us to organize a Friendship day party. With two public shows and two private corporate events behind us, we were pretty confident of delivering a better and bigger show this time around. We brainstormed and baptized the party “Chak De Dosth”. We sourced the DJ from our own artist management division – DJ Charlez who is a promising and upcoming star, branded, promoted and managed by Team Arun’s. With a sponsor in place, we launched the first round of promotions – Posters at prominent pubic places, followed by email alerts and Orkut community promos’. With TCS denying any access to canteen/pantry notice boards, we were heartbroken. One of the most happening crowd was within reach yet so unreachable! Several other MNC’s especially UST-Global has gone out of its way to help us promote the event within their employees and we thank them from our heart. With limited budget and resources, we were pushing ourselves to the extreme. Ticket sales showed no signs of picking up and at one point we actually thought of pulling off the event. We could hear muffed laughter and “Didn’t we say so” murmuring going around us, It was a Sunday and as per the some ‘gurus’ out here, Sunday’s are no fun-days around Technopark. But then Team Arun’s spirit prevailed and we arose from the ashes like the phoenix and pushed sales like never before. The results started pouring as the crowd started swelling on the D-Day. We had achieved what our associates/competitors could never even imagine was possible, they cldnt even think of pulling a crowd this responsive and big even on a ‘happening’ weekday and here we are rocking them out on a weekend.

We kicked off with a Friendship cake cutting ceremony, There was no VIP invited to cut the cake. The chief guest was FRIENDSHIP and the crowd cut the cake together. We then slowly set the mood with a Karaoke sining. Throwing open the arena to the talented techies to come on stage and croon their heart out. Quizzes sponsored by Ozone beauty park followed and then we let loose DJ Charlez who set the dance floor on fire!! After around an hour n half of sweating it out on the floor, we decided to give the crowd a break and help them catch up on breath. The fun break was lined up with several contests and prizes- Best dressed male and female contest; Best friends contest etc, a DJ Jugalbandhi (something special) and a few more Karaoke songs followed. A lil’ kido – Adil Mohammed stole the heart of the crowd by his cute song and Ram from UST-Global thrilled us with his amazing whistling skills. He whistled a few popular songs with so much ease and perfection that we were forced to think that this was anytime better than the actual rendition.

After the break Charlez got the crowd back on the floor in a matter of jiffy and they rocked on till 11pm. What a way to celebrate friendship!! Team Arun’s members were flooded with queries as to when is the next jig happening. Err.. We have got our hands full with some corporate shows and events currently but then promise to be back soon to ROCK Y’LL DOWN. Cheerio!!
