TechnoparkToday.com(March, 2015): TRIVANDRUM listed as one among the emerging places for the start-ups in India. According to NASSCOM reports on Tech Start-ups in India Trivandrum and Kochi will be the next emerging destination for Indian start-ups in Kerala. The other locations that found a place in the list are Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.
Meanwhile the title for the hottest destination for start-ups still belongs to Bengaluru at 28% followed by Delhi-NCR at 24%. Overall, India is the fourth fastest growing start-up destination in the world, after the US, UK and Israel. According to the data, India has over 3,100 start-ups, with an addition of over 800 new start-ups in 2014 alone. If this trend continues at this space, there will be 11,500 start-ups by 2020 creating 2.5 lakh jobs.
The Nasscom report also suggests that there is an entrepreneurial culture which is slowly gaining momentum in the Kerala. It is estimated that around 700 start-ups are currently operational in the state.
There are over 15 business incubators in the state to boost the start-up ecosystem. The government and private entities are planning to launch many more in the near future. Technopark-TBI, launched in 2005, is the first incubator in Kerala. Startup Village Kochi alone has produced 533 start-ups and created a total of 2,889 jobs last year.
