Sanjay will attend the special 10th anniversary Asia 21 Summit in Hong Kong during December 1-4. The summit will celebrate the achievements of the first decade, explore innovative ways to leverage the Asia 21 network for greater impact, and form special Asia 21 Task Forces to address critical issues facing the region.
“A youthful India is on the rise and their dreams are creating the future of the nation” said the Startup Village Chairman. “The recognition comes with a huge responsibility to build better understanding of culture and values between Americans and Asians and I am looking forward to working with other Asia 21 Young Leaders in building a bridge with Silicon Valley and India.”
Asia 21 Young Leaders are selected through a highly competitive process based on outstanding achievement, commitment to public service, and a proven ability to make the world a better place. The 32 young leaders who make up the Asia 21 Class of 2015 represent 22 countries and are divided almost evenly between men and women. Fifty per cent work in the private sector, 44 per cent in the non-profit sector, and 6 per cent in the public sector.
Set up three years ago, Startup Village is fast shaping up as a unique national model in entrepreneurship akin to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the area of technology education and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The incubator has caught the fancy of various state governments in India. It has helped the Andhra Pradesh state government in setting up a similar startup village at Visakhapatnam. Besides Kochi and Visakhapatnam, it aims to replicate itself in places like Ahmedabad and Delhi to emerge as a national player in entrepreneurship.
