Customers have the right to choose their mode of travel: Police tell auto drivers

TechnoparkToday.com>> Following the news published by Technoparktoday, police has convened a meeting of auto drivers in Kazhakoottam to discuss about techies’ complaints that they are harassing app-based taxi services such as Ola and Uber. In a meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner of Police Shri Shiva Vikram, auto drivers were told that it was customers’ right to choose their mode of travel.

Deputy Commissioner warned against cases of high fare and threatening of cab drivers while auto drivers replied that they are struggling to get customers, because of which they demand high fare to the passengers. They also complained against unauthorized autos plying in Kazhakoottam. There are two authorized auto stands in Kazhakootam – one near AJ Hospital and another at Kulangara. Almost 150-200 auto rickshaws are registered in each auto stands.

DCP said that colour-coding will be implemented soon for all auto rickshaws so that passengers can identify the authorized autos in the stand. Moreover SHE AUTO or PINK AUTO will be encouraged to provide a safe and comfortable journey for lady passengers. DCP promised.

In case any issues or disputes with Auto drivers,Techies are requested to immediately share the registration number of the Auto to Kazhakootam/Thumba Police Station.
