‘IT Meets Suchitwa Mission’ : A Discussion with Dr Vasuki IAS

TechnoparkToday.com>> A meeting with Dr Vasuki IAS (Executive Director, Suchitwa Mission) was organized on 15th June 2016 at Park Centre, Technopark. The meet was initiated by Prakruthi – a voluntary group of techies working towards Green Thoughts & Green Living, in association with other socio-cultural organizations Natana, Prathidhwani, Tejus, Tech Friends, eWIT.

Suchitwa Mission is a dedicated agency for sanitation in Kerala. It is a registered society started by the government in 2008, with the vision of creating a waste free state and focusing on public hygiene and cleanliness.

Dr Vasuki shared the objectives of Suchitwa Mission which includes facilitating implementation of comprehensive scientific waste management systems, Catalyze development of an attitudinal change among the people of  Kerala towards waste management.

She explained the importance of implementing Green Protocol – Reduce, Recycle & Recycle. The protocol was put forward during National Games held in 2015, and secured healthy results. “It is not just Government’s duty to manage the waste, it we who bring up the waste, so its our responsibility to manage it in the right manner. Avoid one time use & throw materials and go for reusable items” – she added.

Moreover the waste management system implemented in Technopark was appreciated and she wish to have some mechanisms to be executed by each companies to reduce the waste. The team has planned to meet HR’s of IT Companies to discuss the same.

The techie organizations have come forward with action plans and assured that all events conducted in Technopark hereafter will have Green Protocol implemented. Team Natana & Prakruthi have already initiated this protocol from the last couple of events.

After the discussion with Techies, Dr Vasuki visited the Waste Management Plant placed in Technopark Campus.
