Toll collection at Akkulam Bridge stopped from 9th Sep

TechnoparkToday.com>> The Toll collection at akkulam bridge, Trivandrum – Kazhakootam Bypass has been stopped from 9th September(Friday). It was stopped after 8 long years. Issues involving employees and over charging the motorists was some common concerns reported earlier at this Toll booth.

On Last Wednesday, Ministry of Road, Transport and  Highways has issued orders to stop collection of toll from Akkulam toll booth. This decision has given a great relief for the Technopark dwellers, daily commuters of Bypass road and long distance travelers.

The bridge was constructed in 2000 and toll collection was started in 2008. Shri Shashi Tharoor MP has raised the request to Union Transport Minisiter Nitin Gadkari inorder to stop the Toll collection, last year during inauguration of the Kazhakuttam-Mukkola road-widening. And as interfered by Mr Tharoor, the notification was issued from the union ministry.
