A few days back technoparktoday reported security threats in technopark(http://blog.technoparktoday.com/2008/07/technopark-needs-to-be-vigil-upon-terrorist-attacks/). The post was forwaded to many corporate management officials and the Technopark Authority as well. It is really goot to see that Technopark has taken that issue very seriously and that they are taking measures to tighten security. Here is the reply from the Technopark Authority:
In the light of the terrorist attacks in various parts of the country and intelligence reports that Technopark could be a target for such attacks, we would be implementing the following measures to tighten security in the Campus. We seek whole hearted co operation from you for these efforts to make Technopark a safe place for everyone to work. We will also be happy to consider any additional measures that you may want to suggest in this regard.
1.   Over the past few years we have issued many vehicle passes for cars and bikes. Some of the employees would have moved out of Technopark or changed their vehicles. We were not having a proper system for collecting back the passes in such cases with the result that many vehicles outside may have our gate pass, posing a security threat. Hence we propose to replace the car/bike passes with a new one in different design and colour. Companies are requested to send us details of employees requiring vehicle passes including Name of employee, Regn No and make of vehicles to enable us to replace the existing car/bike passes by August 30,2008. We are also planning to replace such car/bike passes every year. Companies are also requested to take back the passes once the employee leaves the organisation as part of the relieving process just like the companies do in the case of ID cards of employees. Only the new vehicle passes will be permitted from 1st Sep 08.
2.   We have set up a proper Reception with a lady receptionist at the main entry gate from Bypass road. Visitors to your Co may be advised to take the entry thru Main Gate. The Rear Gate from university side will be used for entry/exit exclusively to the employees and visitors will not be permitted entry there. This will be implemented from 11th August 2008.
3.   ID cards for drivers (except buses) and contract staff may kindly be issued by the respective companies within the next one week. Entry to the campus will be allowed only for those having ID Cards.
4.   Companies are advised to tighten their HR processes to include reference checks/police verification before hiring employees. This is especially to be done in hiring contract staff, drivers etc.
5.   Companies are requested to check the alertness of their guards by doing surprise checks by HR/Admn staff at unexpected hours.
6.   Visitors passes will be issued only after the confirmation is received from the respective Co to the Receptionist at the gate. On arrival of the visitor at the gate the Receptionist will originate a call to the respective Co and take the clearance before issuing the pass. This will be done even if an instruction is already given by the Co at the reception. This is being done to avoid anybody calling up the reception pretending to be from some Co and asking for visitors passes for their accomplice.
7.   The reception at gate will be issuing visitors ID cards with photograph of the visitor. This will be implemented soon.
8.   We are exploring automatic entry control for vehicles using RFID, control cameras, computer processing etc. This is proposed to be implemented in a phased manner depending on the technical and financial feasibility.
We request your cooperation in the above measures.
thanks
