How much does Google know about you? This is a question which many users are curious about, even if most Indians are not so much concerned about their privacy. Since Google offers a wide variety of services, users might also be interested in how much are they related, and how much of their information is available to public.
So here it is: https://www.google.com/dashboard
This one page offers a load of data Google knows about you. It is all there, GMail, Orkut, Blogger, Picassa, GTalk….the list goes on. Note that any item with an icon of “3-persons†is available to the whole world.
In Google’s own words, “In an effort to provide you with greater transparency and control over your own data, we’ve built the Google Dashboard. Designed to be simple and useful, the Dashboard summarizes data for each product that you use (when signed in to your account) and provides you direct links to control your personal settingsâ€.
Privacy advocates are still not happy over the way Google tracks each of its users, but the site nevertheless is a great effort from Google in allowing the user to see a consolidated view of all his data it holds. If you have never been to this nearly-one-year old site, you are advised to peek into it!
