Oracle Coming to Technopark – Agreement on Monday

The Kerala IT sector will take a major leap forward next week with one of the world leaders in the IT sector, Oracle Corporation, inking an agreement on setting up its facility at the Leela Infopark in the  Technopark campus, here.

Sources said that an agreement on allotting the space was expected to be signed between Oracle and Leela Infopark at Technopark on Monday.  Technopark will be also part of the agreement.  Official sources preferred to be tight-lipped on the signing of agreement.

Oracle is expected to be represented by a delegation, led by vice president-real estate and head of infrastructure, Oracle India, Air Commodore R Jayaraman and Leela Infopark is expected to be represented by a delegation led by deputy managing director Venu Krishnan.  Technopark Chief Executive officer Mervin Alexander and other senior officials will represent Technopark, sources told.

The world IT major, which is planning to acquire about 50,000 square-feet space in Technopark, will be commencing operations from here in June. Initially, they will be commencing operations from about 3,000 square feet space being set up at the Park Centre of Technopark on a make-shift basis and will be moving to the Leela Infopark when the facilities are in place, sources said.

Oracle is also learnt to have already commenced a recruitment drive for its upcoming facility here. Oracle will be starting its operations with around 100 professionals and the manpower will be enhanced in a phased manner, said sources.

It may be recalled that Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor had played a key role in pursuing Oracle to set up its facility in Kerala. A state delegation, comprising Tharoor and senior officials of the Technopark, had held a video-conferencing with an Oracle delegation, led by its executive vice-president Thomas Kurien.  Sources in the IT sector said that the decision of Oracle to set up its centre here will enhance the prominence of Kerala in the global IT map.

Leela Infopark, which has a total space of 5 lakh square feet, is already housing 12 companies. The total number of companies in Technopark is around 200.

  1. Great News…for Technopark.

  2. good news for technopark and good news for the techies too. In trivandrum, the companies are paying the lowest salary in the industry, as we compare it with other cities. This is because they are exploiting two things. there are no competition, and nobody who is settled in kerala is not likely to move back to bangalore or any other cities easily.

When new companies like Oracle & HCL is coming to technopark, it will be changed, people will get more options and they can join anywhere.

    Good news anyway.

  3. Great news for the Technoparkians!

  4. Awaiting for more players come to technopark. Within next 5 years, you can see lots of big companies will come to kerala, especially technopark and technocity. great opportunities for IT professionals. Technopark jobs will be booming

  5. yes great news for all the techies

  6. warm welcome for Oracle. This is only a starting.Within 1 year, the entire IT geography of Kerala will change.Lot of other companies will come. Now no need to go to bangalore/chennai for better work environment and salary.More ever this is the end of an era, in which techies in tvm/cochin are exploited by lot of ways.

  7. Welcome Oracle to Trivandrum. Everyone is really thirlled to see the world IT giant Oracles name board in Technopark. Hope that other companies will also follow the oracle and setup their offices in trivandrum.

Technopark – This is a great achievement. Congratulations….

  8. Good news to every IT aspirant. Hope more big boys will come to technopark.

  9. gr8….can any1 tell me how to apply for oracle and ibm @ technopark???

  10. You can apply via the companies websites itself. they will publish the openings based on location in their career page. check them out and apply

TechnoparkToday, can you people update the job openings in technopark including Oracle and IBM in your jobs section?

what is the procedure for that?

  11. This is projected as a big news by politicians and technopark, since they do not have any other thing to project. If we go to Banglore/Heydrabad or Chennai we can see 2 or 3 offices of big companies like Oracle. Technopark is the first IT park in India, SmartCity will go like this for next 5 to 10 years, so politicians/technopark officials give maximum advertisement, that is what you can do. It’s our fate.

  12. but we have some limits, as we know. trivandrum is not a metro, and the infrastructures and the resources here are very limited and the IT parks are with the govt. so everyting would be slow.
