Aakash – The first true indian tablet computer appeared in headlines when it introduced. it was the cost of the computing device that raised many an eyebrow. The device was touted to be priced at around Rs.3000.
Aakash is introducing in two modes, one is for students (Rs.1500)and other is for the common market(Rs.3000).  These prices are inclusive of all the taxes and other charges. Aakash Tablet in the retail market is called as Datawind Ubislate and it will have added features when compared to the student’s version.
Aakash tablet  was designed and manufactured by DataWind, a British firm in alliance with IIT with the support of (NME-ICT) National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology that comes under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resources and Development.
The specifications of Aakash Tablet are as under

- Storage – 2GB Flash Memory with 2GB Micro SD card which is expandable up to 32GBMemory -256 MB RAM

- Web Browser – DataWind Accelerated Browser
- Modem – Inbuilt cellular and Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)
