TechnoparkToday.com>> Oct 7, 2013: The Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) has announced the launch of its Young Scientist Scheme (YSS) – a fellowship programme for nurturing and mentoring young researchers.
The YSS is designed to help fulfil the long-term career goals of young people in science, technology and related domains and to provide them research opportunities in niche areas of basic and applied sciences in well-established and recognised R&D Centres in Kerala.
The scheme is open to applicants under the age of 40 years; extended to 45 years for women candidates.
Under the scheme, selected young scientists will be provided monthly emoluments of Rs 35,000 (for fresh PhD holders), Rs 40,000 (for fellows with 3 years research/industrial experience after PhD) and Rs 45,000 (for fellows with 5 years research/industrial experience after PhD).
The awardee scientists are also eligible for R&D grants up to Rs 30 lakhs for three years to cover manpower at junior level, travel, contingency, consumables and equipments. The sanctioned projects may be operated in research institutes/ colleges/ industry, university departments or selected national research institutes within the state.
Interested scientists may send their Letter of Intent (LoI) latest by November 15, 2013.
