Indian telecom giant BSNL is all set to introduce a facility to make bill payments through ATMs of all banks in Thiruvananthapuram on a pilot basis. Customers will be able to pay bills of all BSNL services, including post-paid mobile phone, land phone, and broadband internet service, through the proposed ATM-payment system. It will be the first such facility of BSNL in the country.
Arrangements are being made with two leading banks to make the project a reality. Since the ATMs of all banks are networked, customers will be able to make payment through the ATMs of any bank.
The new system will be introduced on an experimental basis in Thiruvananthapuram. If found successful, it will be extended to other districts under the Kerala Circle.
