Car Pooling in Technopark – a “Win-Win” for All!

TechnoparkToday.com – Ecological foot print is something every human should consider, before doing any action. “can I do things in a different way so that my mother earth is less impacted?”, this question should be asked by each one to themselves while structuring their daily lives. Even if the impact is very less compared to a social action, individual actions can also trigger large changes. Our life’s are full of non –degradable/ non-recyclable materials starting from the plastic straw used to sip a soft drink to plastic carry bags which is used to carry home various grocery items.

All invariably end up as landfills or burned to cause toxic gases. Our travel also is one such parameter which causes ecological foot print, with individual travel causing highest impact and shared travel causing lesser impact. Car Pooling is an important idea while thinking on these aspects.

Car pooling is typically an unofficial mechanism by which more than one person travel in a car inexchange of a ride next day. Usually 2- 4 car owners join as a group and take just one car for travel.There is also a method where car owner shares fuel expenses among the riders including himself.In a time, where our public transportation systems are in a deteriorated state due to government apathy and lack of investment, carpool deserves a decent place in commutation puzzle.It has many advantages such as fuel saving and ecological benefits.if one car comes to traffic instead of 4, there is sizable savings in fuel, human effort, pollution, road congestion, maintenance cost and parking space.

It is also a perfect way to make friends. Daily car pooling will be an enriching experience if the participants are courteous, punctual and little accommodative.

Even though this mechanism is yet to be legalized, government advertisement on fuel conservation promotes this idea. There are many companies also whom this idea finds appealing.Carpooling is a run away hit with people who are weekend travellors, whose family is in their natives.There are a number of regular carpools operating from various cities on weekends towards rural sides and back.These trips usually pack time for some fun, food and entertainment in their trips.

We should consistently raise voice for better public transportation systems to prompt government to invest more.
