TechnoparkToday.com>>A Coastal security exercise ‘SAGAR KAVACH- 01/2017’ is scheduled to be conducted from 8 AM on 25/04/2017 to 8 AM on 27/04/2017, coordinated by Indian Coast Guard for ensuring effective coastal security mechanism.

The exercise is conducted half yearly with an objective to check coastal security mechanism and validate standard operating procedures. The organisations participating in the exercise are Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, Coastal Police, Police Special Branch, Intelligence Bureau, Customs, Department of Port, Department of Fisheries, Director General of Lighthouses and light ships and Fishing Community.

As part of the exercise, an attacking group ‘RED FORCE’ comprising personnel from Navy/Coast Guard/State Police may carry out simulated attacks if they manage to enter the campus. These personnel will be in possession of a separate identity card indicating their role in the attack force, in addition to their service identity card. If anyone from this force is apprehended/identified, Chief Security Officer may be informed. They are not to be detained and must be released immediately on producing the above mentioned i-cards.

Participants of the exercise will be divided into two teams, i.e, Attack (Red) and Defence (Blue). Attack team will act as terrorists who will attempt to infiltrate into coastal area while Defence team will establish coastal security surveillance to intercept and neutralise the infiltration attempts.

In view of this exercise, strict checking of identity card/ entry pass/baggage will be carried out at the gates and buildings. This is likely to cause delay at the gates during these days(25th till 27th April 2017).
