Kochi need not welcome anyone. Being the only city in Kerala which hosts most of the major builders and a cosmopolitan crowd to go with it, DLF wont find the going tough in Kochi unlike elsewhere in the state.
But I think kochin has a wide range of choices for flats and apartments than in trivandrum.
