Ernst and Young Shared Services Set to Grow at Trivandrum

Ernst & Young Global Shared Services Technopark has launched a major recruitment campaign to increase its current staff capacity of 700 employees to reach 1000, by this year, with this figure likely to double in 2012. This expansion follows the organization’s increased operations since becoming part of Ernst & Young’s Global Shared Services operations in July 2010.

The center which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ernst & Young Global will now play a key role in supporting Ernst & Young operations, across 140 countries and several time zones, offering key support services in IT, Knowledge Processing and Business Processing.

Prior to becoming part of Global, Technopark was a support center for Ernst & Young Middle East.

Ernst & Young Global Vice-Chair Tim Eddy said that the growth of the Technopark Center was key to Ernst & Young’s plans. “We already have some highly skilled people in Technopark providing some great service to a number of functions across the globe. We are investing in more talent now to help us achieve our market leadership ambitions.

Ernst & Young Global Shared Services Technopark Leader, Binu Koshy said that infrastructure support, application development and security systems are the key areas where recruitment will take place to support Ernst & Young’s globalization and market leadership agenda.

Kerala has excellent role models in IT to pick from, both home-grown and among its expatriates, who are making an impact globally in their business segments. Business leaders speak highly of the local workforce and the younger generation seems to be imbued with the right attitude of hard work, of commitment, and of a can-do spirit, Mr. Koshy said.

India’s IT industry is fuelled by youth and the average age of Indian IT services companies is often under 25. Kerala has a large number of such talented youth and we are keen to attract this segment. This would also include locals currently employed overseas, who would find the state’s environment to be increasingly attractive, both culturally and socially.

We are also targeting employees from outside the state especially Bangalore and Chennai given the broad based pan- Indian pool in these cities. One of the reasons for our growth has been our talent pool and further growth is dependent on the availability of good talent,Mr. Koshy added.

Foreigners visiting our premises at Technopark find the easy air connectivity to Kerala from the UK, Europe and the Gulf, a particular attraction. This, plus the state’s bewitching natural charm, when contrasted with the congestion of other industrial locations translates into powerful competitive advantage

HR Manager Suchithra Balan, said that employees at Ernst & Young Global Shared Services Technopark undergo rigorous training, continuous learning and development and knowledge sharing to strengthen and nurture their skills.

They are exposed to a dynamic environment and to the excitement and potential of IT world. From day one at Ernst & Young, employees enjoy early responsibility, rewarding challenges and exposure to a variety of businesses across a range of sectors, said Ms Balan.

Ernst & Young Global Shared Services Technopark is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ernst & Young Global. Apart from Technopark, Ernst & Young has Shared Services Centers in Bangalore, Gurgaon (India), Dalian (China), and a new center will open in Poland this year.
