FindAuto.in – Now autorickshaws Just an SMS Away

TechnoparkToday.com(April, 2014): Tired of getting stranded in the city without finding autorickshaws? With ‘Findauto.in’, a service developed by the students of the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, you are only an SMS away from finding an auto.

You just have to send an SMS in the format FAUTO <>source<>*<>destination to 9266680802. An auto driver in the locality will be alerted and the number of the driver will be forwarded to you.

Optionally the users can request pickup from their website (www.findauto.in) or using our mobile app. on the click of a button. Initially we are offering our service free of cost to customers and auto rickshaw drivers.The developers have a filtering process for selecting autorickshaw drivers to be a part of the project and ensuring the safety of customers, a press release here said. They have also included a customer feedback mechanism.

The project initially started as a project by  engineering students ( Rahul R, Venkiteswaran R, Rejin Jose, Nithin David Thomas, Vinayak Radhakrishnan, Naamin Phaisal, Mathew Dominic, Jiffin Tony Thottan and  Kiran Rajmohan) from College of Engineering, Trivandrum which was selected for technical and financial support by IEEE Communication Society Kerala Section as well as Startup Village, Kochi. Later as the technology was fully developed, the students realized the eminent market potential of their idea as well , the extent of social innovation that it will drive. Thus they started a company to commercialize their product as an offering by the name ‘findauto.in’.
