Floods in Trivandrum Affects Technopark, But Companies are Safe

TechnoparkToday.com(Aug, 2018): The heavy rain and flood in kerala affected the capital city and various places in the city is under the water even today. evicted many people from their residence and many flood relief centers opened in various schools. organizations and volunteers are trying day and night to collect the necessary materials for the flood victims and things are under control as per the latest reports.

The flood affected Technopark also. Water from the Thettiyar canal within the campus has risen and flowed into the campus caused some minor flood scenes within Technopark campus. Water has reached the M Squared and Gayathri buildings, and the Phase 3 campus. The ground floor of amstor building and the places around Gayathri, Amstor , M-Squared and padmanabham slightly affected by the water. But most the companies will not be affected since they are located on an elevated level.

Other than in campus, The service road in phase 3 got affected with flood, also nearby Ginger Hotel. The situation is under control as of now. A study conducted by the Trivandrum Municipal Corporation in 2012 says that the Thettiyar thodu (canal) running in the premises of Technopark, Kazhakuttam, is being silted up. proper cleaning and protection of Tettiyar thodu will prevent flooding and water-logging in the surroundings of the Technopark area.

Technopark based organizations and companies are doing some commendable job in organizing and coordinating the flood relief activities. Most of the companies cancelled their onam celebrations since kerala is going through such a tragic situation. They offered the onam celebration fund to the flood relief operations and chief ministers rescue fund.

There are a few collection centers setup within campus to collect the necessary items for the flood victims in camps including clothes medicine & food. Prathidhwani opened a collection center in Technopark Club House.
