Technopark Trivandrum, Jan 2025: Genrobotics, a pioneering robotics company, has unveiled India’s first robotic-assisted paediatric gait trainer, G-Gaiter Paediatric, designed to provide advanced physical rehabilitation for children with mobility issues caused by conditions such as Cerebral Palsy. The launch event took place at the C-DAC auditorium, Technopark, with Health Minister Smt. Veena George inaugurating the device by handing over the first unit to Shri Sabith Umer, Vice-Chairman of Thanal Group, a charitable trust based in Kannur.
Highlighting the significance of this innovation, Minister Veena George described the G-Gaiter Paediatric as a transformative step in the rehabilitation of children with gait disabilities resulting from conditions like Muscular Dystrophy, Brain Injuries, and Spinal Cord Injuries. She announced that the device will soon be installed at Sree Avittam Thirunal (SAT) Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, recognized as a Centre of Excellence in mother and child care by the Central Government. The Minister emphasized that Kerala’s healthcare system, while historically community-driven, is now integrating technology to improve quality of life, with initiatives like the G-Gaiter leading the way.
The G-Gaiter Paediatric incorporates cutting-edge features such as Advanced Virtual Reality (VR) Technology and Real-Time Interactive Games, creating an engaging therapeutic experience. Using Genrobotics’ patented GPLOT Exoskeleton Technology, the device enables children to develop natural gait patterns through precise and adaptive robotic therapy. Its intelligent therapy mode assists in motor pattern relearning, muscle coordination improvement, and enhanced functional mobility tailored to individual needs.
Genrobotics CEO, Shri Vimal Govind M K, expressed the company’s commitment to revolutionizing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) through innovations like G-Gaiter Paediatric. With around 18 million children affected by mobility challenges in India, this device aims to address the lack of quality rehabilitation solutions. By making robotic rehabilitation accessible in hospitals and neuro-rehabilitation centres, Genrobotics continues to advance its mission of PM&R 2.0, driving impactful change in healthcare and solidifying its position as a leader in innovative “Make in India” robotic solutions.
