GIST – Anti-Tobacco Road Show on May 31

 

>>Trivandrum:  A Road Show is being organized under the auspicious of ‘GIST’ tomorrow (May 31st) to conscientize people about the haphazards of tobacco production and consumption with observing World No Tobacco Day.

Popular cine artist Suresh Gopi will flag off the show at 9.30 a.m. in the railway station.  It follows a march, symbolizing the complete uproot of tobacco products, which reaches the museum at 11.30 a.m.   Suresh Gopi will address the meet there.  The march ends at Shanghumugham beach at 5.30 p.m. and lit a symbolic pyre of tobacco products on the beach.

 

Famous poet, D Vinayachandran will talk the anti tobacco oath and bury the urn in the Arabian sea. Sunil Ibrahim, Syed Shiyas, Anilkumar, etc. will lead the road show.

 

The road show is part of the anti tobacco campaign conducted by ‘GIST’ (Generating Ideas for Social Transformation), an initiative of Vibezon Concepts has started a month-long campaign against tobacco to mark WNTD.  The campaign, started on May 5, is aimed at generating awareness among the public through the media, regarding the harmful effects of tobacco that lead to slow death.

  2. Really Good…I’m sure many of the well wishers will join this noble mission.

    The usage of tobaco and related products are getting increased day by day. it starts very early especially among the school children… The products like Shanthi, Shambu, Pan Parag, and cigerettes are heavily used by the teenagers and youth.

    They are not aware about the after effects of this, even if they see the warning in the cover.
