Skill Set required.
Communication:-Â It is not about just speaking and writing. A resource should be able to understand what the user/client/customer is saying, capture it in a document and walk-thru to ensure that what is said it fully and completely captured. The documentation should be done in a standard template and it should be reviewed for grammar, spelling, etc prior to walk-thru. The resource should able to suggest alternate solutions if any and he/she should be able to convince the other side on the suggestions.

Exercise – 1.
Form a team of five and appoint one as leader
Leader to setup agenda
Leader to set up f2f – face-to-face meeting request either manually or thru computer
Leader to discuss the agenda in the meeting
Leader to prepare the MOM – Minutes of Meeting and share with all [MOM template can be obtained from internet]
Rotate leadership role with all five and repeat the steps again
Also, repeat the meeting by all joining thru phone as well
Exercise -2
Form a team of five and appoint one as leader
Leader to come up with a requirement [Arrange a party for 100 people, Make 100 chairs, Setup a stall in the seminar, etc]
Leader to set up f2f – face-to-face meeting request either manually or thru computer
Team to prepare BRD – Business Requirement Documents, review it and walk-thru to the Leader [Get template from internet]
Leader to review and confirm the requirements
Team to suggest changes and convince the Leader
Rotate leadership role with all five and repeat the steps again

Pro-active communication:- The end aim is to make the user/client/customer happy. A resource should be able to pro-actively respond to requests from the user/client/customer. When responding please ensure to provide a plan with date and timelines and keep following the published plan. Any change in plan should also be communicated early with remediation steps.
Solution.
Prepare a plan based on the BRD, with deliverables, dates and timelines
Send the plan to the leader
Pro-actively follow-up on actions with the leader as per BRD
Business/Process:-  A resource should have at least the very basic knowledge about the business and process involved in that industry. For example, in the software industry, it is a must to know about the SDLC – Software Development Life Cycle, the template used, etc. For banking, ensure that you know the basic transactions happening in bank. For retail, ensure that you are aware about the basic retail process.
Solution.
Learn SDLC and its templates
Go to a bank and watch how transactions are happening there.
Talk to the bank people and learn the banking process
Document the same
Repeat for retail, etc.
Technical:- Â It is all the more good to know the technicalities of the job. For some job, the basic computer knowledge is must. For software jobs, the computer basics plus the DB- DataBase and SQL-Structured Query Language is a must followed with the relevant technology should grabbed early.

Learn basic office tools such as Word, XL, Power point, etc
Learn the basic of a DataBase
Learn the SQL and tuning
