IIM to study the impact of Technopark

The premier Management institute in India – IIM-K is preparing to conduct a study about the socio-economic impact of Technopark in Trivandrum district where the Technopark is located.

The study would also look into the number of indirect jobs generated in connection with the park and the range of remuneration to the workers. The study is expected to be completed in a period of six months.

Technopark is currently giving about 35,000 job opportunities in IT/ITES/BPO companies, and its support functions. TPT believes that Technopark is giving more jobs than what is visible to the public. Many people got job and opportunities because of Technopark. Like the Cab/Transportation services, Catering services, PG/Hostel/Rental services etc…

There are incidents like a person came here as a cab driver 5 years ago, and he is having more than 20 cabs by his own today. Many unprivileged people especially the housewives staying nearby campus started small eateries within their houses and established as restaurants later. there are many such stories related to technopark.

Technopark community is the high earning and high spending community in Trivandrum City, and techies are the major customers of almost all the modern business establishments in City. More brands are coming to city targeting this highly earning and spending community.

Technopark Trivandurm is the first IT park of its kind in India. Started their operations in early 90’s. Technopark celebrated its 20th anniversary very recently.
