Infopark Cherthala may be Ready by January

The first phase of Infopark Cherthala is nearing completion and is expected to be commissioned in January 2011.

Infopark Cherthala – part of the plan by Kerala IT to expand its reach to outlying districts- will offer developed land and built-up space for IT/ITeS companies, co-developers and commercial development activities. Located at Pallipuram Village in Cherthala Taluk of Alappuzha District, the park is approximately 40 Km from Infopark Kochi. It is planned on 66 acres, 60 acres of which have already been notified as Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The park will eventually have a total built-up area of 2.5 million sq ft and generate about 20,000 jobs. The investment on the park, estimated to be close to Rs.1,000 crores, will eventually generate exports earnings of Rs.1,200 crores when fully functional.

The first phase of the project includes the construction of a software complex and a BPO complex, and expects to have nearly 80 per cent of the jobs reserved for local candidates. Procedures to attract investors are already on.
