Infosys is now planning to invest about Rs. 800 crore in Trivandrum, Kerala to expand the operation and generate 10,000 new jobs over the next five years.
After many expected and unexpected turmoil due to global economic scenario, it seems Infosys , the technology giant has been able to gear up a new start. The giant is now planning to invest about Rs. 800 crore in Kerala to expand the operation and generate 10,000 new jobs over the next five years, according to a report by Kerala IT News.
Shibulal , CEO, Infosys has disclosed the plan on Saturday while receiving felicitations at Alappuzha where he is originally from.
He has informed that Infosys has set a target of 45,000 campus recruits this year and had already recruited about 15,000. Also the technology giant is working with 28 Engineering Colleges in Kerala to groom the students for the IT market.
According to the report, Infosys CE0 also has mentioned that Infosys has contributed Rs.608 crores to the total IT exports from Kerala, which was around Rs.3,200 crores.
Shibulal believes Infosys is doing well in Kerala and Trivandrum centre is the fastest growing centre of Infosys across the country at 30 percent annually.
Currently, Infosys has two development centers in Thiruvananthapuram employing about 4,100 professionals. The company had started its operation in Kerala at Technopark, Trivandrum in 2004. Now Infosys has been able to have its own campus adjacent to Technopark that forms part of Technopark Phase II Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
The campus has been inaugurated this year with an investment of Rs. 108 crores.
