Innoz bags MIT Telecom award

Technopark-based Innoz Technologies has bagged the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) award for telecommunication at MIT’s Technology Review EmTech India Conclave in Banaglore.
Innoz received the award for SMSGyan, a mobile based search engine that can work with different internet resources to give correct answers on verticals such as encyclopedia, dictionary, cricket scores, stock market and weather informations.

With more than 10 million users, SMSGyan has become one of the fastest growing mobile services in India, Technopark sources said today.

Since 1999, the editors of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Review have honored the young innovators and their exciting inventions and research.

This year MIT recognized the TR35, a list of technologists and scientists, all under the age of 35. Deepak Ravindran is rated among the 18 hottest technology innovators from India inside the TR35 for 2011 by MIT institute.

”Sixty per cent of India does not even know what Google is because internet and pc penetration is so low. On the other hand, with 771 million subscribers, more than half of India owns a mobile.
Growth opportunities for a service like SMSGyan are huge because now the information is just an SMS away,” MIT institute said.

Recently Airtel has joined hands with Innoz to launch AirtelGyan accessible to over 150 million customers in India. Anyone can use the service by sending questions to 55444
