IT firms asked to Innovate

External Affairs Minister Shashi Tharoor urged the IT industry to make dedicated efforts to increase domestic usage of IT for better governance and acceptance of IT. Other speakers at the IT summit held recently at Trivandrum were unanimous in their opinion, that India could achieve long-term sustainability in the IT industry only if it changed its cost and labor arbitrage to innovation, quality and flexibility.

The focus has to be on ensuring value, innovation and changing the world with the help of IT and making IT a way of life. With the world economy re-emerging from recession, India has a key role to play in the recovery and Kerala is capable of taking the lead. IT companies were asked to adopt Kerala villages and make them e-models. This would also ensure that the growth of IT in Kerala did not lead to social disparity.
