Karbonn S1 Titanium – Review

Karbonn S1 Titanium Review

TechnoparkToday.com >> Quad-core processors are slowly being introduced in budget Android smartphones. Karbonn S1 Titanium is one of the lot, powered by a quad-core processor, it falls in the medium range of budget. With a 4.5-inch screen this phone doesn’t fit the bill of being in a “phablet” category but with a Qualcom Snapdragon S4 chip, this device turns out to be a better medium budget Android phone.

The build of the phone is not so high-end. It has a plain rectangular slab with rounded corners. Beneath the screen are four capacitive touch buttons for navigation and on top of the screen are front camera lens, proximity sensor and earpiece. There is a grey colored frame surrounding the phone which has a metal finish. The power key is placed at the top of the screen which makes it little cumbersome to operate. The micro-USB port is located at the extreme bottom of the phone. The back of the phone will bore innumerable finger prints because of the glossy material used at the back. The logo of the company is printed beneath the rear camera lens. There are two SIM card slots and a microSD card slot above the battery compartment.

The 4.5 inch screen with a resolution of 540 X 960 pixels and a pixel density of 240 ppi gives an eye appealing performance with its vibrant graphics and sharp text. In videos and images, the colors appear little saturated and the screen is very reflective while being used in broad day-light. The device runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly bean version. The device also has a well-placed notification tray which includes options like Wi-Fi, brightness, rotation, Bluetooth, GPS and mobile data. It also hosts a shortcut to widgets and settings account. This device from Karbonn has some pre-installed apps like DSP Manager for controlling sound input, a File Browser, Flipboard , Yahoo messenger, nexGTV, Paytm, Stopwatch app, a world clock and Whatsapp. The phone app has been modified to support dual SIM functionality.

The Device has a rear camera of 5-megapixel autofocus shooter and its performance is quite average in well-lit sorroundings.. Images captured in low light appear little grainy. The camera app installed in the phone can help to adjust white balance, exposure, aspect ratio, face detection, red-eye reduction and offers a panorama mode.

Overall this is a decent phone with good return on money. It has a medium screen with a quad-core processor and would fit in even the tightest of budget plans. Overlooking the creaky back, no FM radio and other such minor shortcomings, The Karbonn S1 Titanium is an excellent performer and provides good value for money.. Hence Karbonn S1 titanium is a better choice than most others.
