Karthick R of NIT, Kozhikode wins MobMe’s CodeJAM Contest Finals.
Karthik Bags The Price Money of Rs. One Lakh
Karthick R, final year student of Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Kozhikode won the finals of the MobME CodeJam Contest and bagged the prize money of Rs. one lakh. Sony Joy, Co-Founder of MobME gave away the grand cash prize to the winner. MobME Wireless had announced the CodeJAM online contest to hunt for the smartest programmers from Kerala’s college campuses. Eleven participants vied for the grand cash price of Rs. One Lakh offered by MobMe.
MobME’s Online CodeJAM contest that was launched on June 16, 2011 had initial participation from over 1000 engineering college students. At the end of the contest, the company offered jobs to three contestants including Karthick.
“We received great response from the participants for the online contest, of which over 100 students participated in the entire contest. We got the opportunity to identify some great talent in programming and interact with them through this contest. The feedback we got from the participants is that such contests will help them to prepare for the real world and prepare them to be thorough professionals. The first edition of this contest was a success and we are planning to make this an annual affair.†Said MobME CEO, Sanjay Vijayakumar.
The winners who won the daily cash prize of Rs.1000 are: Rag Sagar of Anna University; Akhil Stanislavose of KMEA College of Engineering, Kochi; Vignesh Sharma, TocH Institute of Science and Technology, Kochi; Jithu Sunny of Govt. Engineering College, Thrissur; Plabhan Nayak, Birla Institute of Technology; Jesly Varghese of Rajagiri College; Shyam CV of NIT, Kozhikode; Prashant Ravi, Amity University; Jishnu Mohan of MESCE; and Monica Yelley of NIT Calicut;
The MobME online CodeJAM contest was held for a fortnight and a programming puzzle was hosted in a specially crafted web portal at 11pm each night for 14 consecutive nights. A cash price of Rs. 1000 was announced for daily winners during this period. The finals were conducted live at the MobME Kochi office where the winner received the grand prize of Rs. one lakh. Participants had the flexibility to code in five different computer languages: C, PHP, Python, Ruby or Clojure.
