Kerala State IT Mission (KSITM) received this year’s ComputerWorld Honors Program Laureate awards for two of its projects in the award categories viz. Economic Opportunity and Health. The award recognizes men, women, organizations and institutions around the world whose visionary applications of information technology promote positive social, economic and educational change. The Awards are instituted by International Data Group (IDG), the largest technology media, and research organisation in the world with a presence in more than 90 countries with headquarters at Boston,USA. KSITM Director, Smt. Ishita Roy received the medals and citations.
KSITM was honoured in the Health Category for its initiative Dr. SMS project. This innovative programme provides comprehensive information on health-related resources via the short message service (SMS) to citizens who are in urgent need to locate the nearest health facility in the shortest possible time. This was developed with the technical support of National Informatics Kerala.
The other project that received recognition in the Economic Opportunity category was the utilization of mobile technologies innovatively to create, improve and inclusively deliver public service with better transparency, accountability and reach thereby catalysing economic development in Kerala.

It is a matter of great pride that the institution has again made the State proud by winning two more awards.â€
