TechnoparkToday.com(Jan, 2015):In a determined move to transform Thrissur as the next major IT destination in central Kerala after Kochi, Infopark will hammer out a special plan to give more impetus to the growth of its IT Park at Koratty, Thrissur.
Apart from taking up infrastructure development projects, Infopark has decided to focus on attracting major IT companies to the park at Koratty located in Thrissur district.
“The Infopark at Thrissur has all that it takes to make it a major IT destination in Kerala. The park’s proximity to Kochi international airport and the National Highway connectivity is the key attraction. We will leverage these facilities to brand position the park and attract major anchor clients,” Infopark CEO Shri Hrishikesh Nair said.
While the existing two lakh sq ft workspace at the campus is fully occupied, work on a new 3.3 lakh sq ft IT block with plug and play facilities is at the final stages of construction and is expected to be ready by May this year.
The new block is designed to serve the needs of both big players in the industry as well as the mid-segment companies looking to scale up their business. Under the new project, the park will revamp amenities like swimming pool, gym, cafeteria and women’s hostel, among others.
Unlike the IT hotspots in tier I and tier II cities in India, the Thrissur Infopark, spread over 30 acres of land in Koratty, offers its employees a congestion-free travel to their workplace. The park, set up in an eco-friendly manner, offers pollution-free environment. A few minutes’ drive to either Thrissur or Kochi is all that its takes for the employees to enjoy facilities like shopping mall, restaurant and multiplex movie theatre.
Currently, the park houses 29 companies with around 600 employees. The facility — set up under the efficient Hub and Spoke model — boasts of a higher employee retention rate as compared to similar parks in other metropolitan cities. The park has received around a dozen advance bookings for office space at the new building which, when completed, will generate an additional 3,000 plus employment.
