TechnoparkToday.com>> You might have noticed few Government buses labelled ‘KURTC’ operating in & around Technopark. Please don’t give space for Confusion !!
The Buses that were bought with the financial support from Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and operated by KSRTC is named ‘KURTC’ (Kerala Urban Road Transport Corporation). As of now there are 314 low floor buses on road with the new name. The service started from November 2014. There are plans to increase the number of buses to extend the services in 12 more districts throughout Kerala.
KURTC is considered to be a Subsidiary formed by KSRTC, still the Bank Account and Logo would be different. The maintenance of these new buses will be handled by KSRTC. KURTC will have to pay the parking charges of Rs.100 per low floor bus to KSRTC in their depots.
As per Antony Chacko (Chairman/Managing Director, KSRTC), the new Name ‘KURTC’ came into place not because of the tough of war between Kerala & Karnataka.
KURTC is a SPV set up by KSRTC is responsible for he operation of JNRUM fleet. It is one of main condition when granting the buses and like in every case it happened in Kerala only now.

It is more of a workaround by the government to get further funding from centre!!! Now since KSRTC and KURTC are managed by the same boses, don’t expect QoS or operational efficiencies that a SPV could have delivered.
Low floor buses are running without proper maintenance it seems. but it was one of the most promising bus service launched by public transport corporation.
