A holographic gunsight developed by Light Logics, a startup company at Technopark Trivandrum, will help soldiers in combat situations target their enemies better.
The gunsight, which recently won the gold medal for innovation instituted by the department of science and technology and Lockheed Martin USA, has had defence experts expressing approval and US firms lining up for collaborative ventures.
Light Logics CEO P.T. Ajithkumar told that unlike the tubular vision provided by red-dot and laser gunsights, the holographic weapon sight, when illuminated by a laser, provides a panoramic view of the terrain and a clear virtual image of the target covered by a red circle.
It is like the view you get wearing eye glasses,The solider can track, aim, and fire the weapon easily. He can also detect movement in the sidelines.EOTech, an American firm, is already marketing such holographic weapon sights to US soldiers.
Mr Ajithkumar claimed his firm’s gunsight was even more advanced, and that he had initiated action to patent it.The gunsight’s previous version was successfully tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Army.
Great milestone 🙂
Congratulations. Expecting more miracles…
