TechnoparkToday.com(Feb,2017) > The Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala (IIITM-K), in association with GE Global Health and electronics incubator Maker Village, is organising a two-day workshop on “Machine Learning in Medical Image Computing” at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, on February 2 and 3.
“The workshop, which is aimed at nurturing interest in electronics and machine learning applications in imaging and health sectors, will be the first in a series of similar programmes to be conducted periodically,” said Dr Joseph Paul, Associate Professor IIITM-K.
According to Dr MS Rajasree, Director of IIITMK, the principles of machine learning have potentially broad applications in non-health sectors as well, and the combination of software and hardware support provided by GE, IIITMK and Maker Village could be leveraged by startup companies.
The workshop, primarily sponsored by GE, aims to train students specialising in machine learning and entrepreneurs focused in electronics-startups in Kerala, said Prof Rajeev Sreenivasan, Chief Consultant, Maker Village.
Dr Rajasree will inaugurate the workshop tomorrow at IIITM-K in Technopark at 10.00 am. Dr Ramesh Venkatesan, Principal Scientist at GE and founding member of a team working on a cost-effective, next generation MR at GE Healthcare’s Sustainable Solutions business unit, Dr Shanbagh Dattesh Lead Scientist, GE JFW Technology Centre, Prof Sreenivasan and Dr Paul will lead the technical sessions.
