TechnoparkToday.com>>There is serious violation of road safety norms in the construction of Kazhakoottam-Mukkola road being undertaken by National Highway Authority of India. Glaring violation of safety norms can be witnessed right in front of Technopark, where construction of around 15 feet deep drain is progressing.
It is highly irresponsible act from the part of NHAI not to provide reflectors or warning to show that there was indeed a deep pit. The areas is poorly lit, adding more danger to the location.
A number of techies have already met with accidents in the area. Recently, a techie accidentally fell into the drain, while another techie who stopped a car near to the drain fell into it when he opened the door. Thankfully most of them escaped without serious injuries.
It must be worth noticing that a person was killed in a similar pit dug up for the Karamana-Kaliyikkavila road at Nemom during its construction. It is too risky for commuters and motorists, especially at night.
The NHAI must provide necessary lighting, warning boards, reflectors, reflecting ribbons etc, to alert people. It has to be extra cautious at areas near Technopark, where more than 40,000 people work.
