It’s Official.Technopark is the Largest IT Park in India!

PHase III1TechnoparkToday.com>> January 15, 2014:  Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Oommen Chandy today dedicated Technopark Phase III to the nation. CM inaugurated the Phase III’s twin towers Ganga & Yamuna via Skype and said he was proud that Kerala though a late starter in IT has achieved so much in a short time. “Technopark Phase III is showcasing a high class IT infrastructure and it is a moment of pride for us as today we have become the largest IT park in the country. Technopark has grown beyond all our expectations and we hope to see unprecedented growth in the years to come and as Government we will do everything in our capability to make this a reality.” He said inaugurating the third phase.  Technopark now has a total built up area of 7.2 million square feet with the addition of the phase III campus developed in 92 acres of land having twin towers of total area of one million square feet christened Ganga and Yamuna

The inauguration ceremony was presided by Hon. Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty. In his speech, he said, “Today Technopark is providing direct employment to more than 45000 professionals and over 1.5 lakh people are benefited indirectly. In the next one year, TCS will be adding another 10,000 employees, Infosys in Kerala is going to grow by 4000 employees and UST Global will be adding about 8000 employees. This will boost the export revenues of Technopark which in the last fiscal had touched 4500 crores.”

Information, Communication Technology (ICT) is one segment that has grown very fast in the state. The government in the last two years has taken effective steps to handhold IT companies, focused on providing more global exposure to the SMEs. Our infrastructure is expanding. Technology Innovation Zone is being set up in Kochi, and ICT Technology Centres are proposed in every district. We are also developing a new policy to promote Private IT Parks. Smart City has started its operations, Infopark in Kochi is expanding and Cyberpark has also got the nod. With these infrastructure getting ready we are entering the next phase of IT growth wave and I am hopeful to see a very positive development in the next few years in Kerala in IT.”

MLA Shri M A Vaheed, IBS CEO Mr. V K Mathews, Infopark CEO Mr. Hrishikesh Nair, Technopark Sr.Business Development Manager, M Vasudevan, Technopark TBI COO Dr. K C Chandrashekharan Nair along with other dignitaries from Government of Kerala, CEOs and senior officials of various Technopark companies were also present for the ceremony. Principal Secretary for IT, Mr. P H Kurian IAS welcomed the gathering and Technopark CEO K G Girish Babu presented the Vote of Thanks.

5 companies have already started operations in Phase III and about 30 companies will be operational by March 2014 conveyed Shri P H Kurian.

“The long wait to see realisation of our dream is now finally over with the dedication of our prestigious project to the State of Kerala. The twin towers are the first LEED Gold Rated IT Space of the Government. In the next couple of years we hope to generate more than 40,000 direct and over 1.6 lakh indirect employment opportunities that will spur the next growth wave for Kerala as well as the IT industry.” Said Technopark CEO, K G Girish Babu in his Vote of Thanks.
