Ola -Uber Taxies cut fare in Thiruvananthapuram

TechnoparkToday.com>> App-based taxi services, Uber and Ola have slashed their rates in cities, including Thiruvananthapuram.

Uber announced fare reduction on its low-cost taxi UberGO in 10 cities, including Thiruvananthapuram.  There is 18% reduction in the fare on UberGO in the city and the base fare is only Rs 40.

As an effect, one can book a ride from PMG junction in the city to Technopark for a rate of Rs 170-180 in an AC Uber cab (UberGo).  In the same time, an autorickshaw will charge Rs 300 in for this travel.

Ola offers micro, mini and sedan categories in the city. The minimum fare has been slashed from Rs 80 to Rs 45. Micro will cost only Rs 6 extra per km and mini costs just Rs 10 extra per km. Economy sedan charges a minimum of Rs 50 and an extra charge of Rs 12 per km. Cars available in the micro category are Hyundai Eon, Datson GO and Maruti WagonR. Ola Mini has Maruti Ritz, Nissan Micra and Tata Indica, while Ola Sedan offers Toyota Etios, Tata Indigo and Maruti Dzire. However, Uber has only UberGO – its cheapest category – in the city.

TechnoparkToday.com has already reported that drivers of both services have been threatened by auto and taxi drivers near Technopark several times.  It has become common for Ola-Uber drivers to ask customers to come out to locations where the drivers have parked their vehicles so as to avoid a conflict with local taxi and auto drivers.
