With Entrance exams just a few months away, Technopark-based Oztern Technology has joined hands with Kerala Government’s Akshaya — the state’s IT mission — to offer the online crash courses designed by Trichur-based P C Thomas, a well known face in the field of medical/engineering entrance examination space in south India.
The coaching classes being conducted by Thomas, a former physics teacher at St. Thomas College, since 1965 are extremely popular among students not only in Kerala but also neighbouring states and the Gulf.
The course will be marketed by the Akshaya through its 2,200 citizen centres across the state through the tie-up. The Kerala government has already declared Akshaya citizen services centres for accepting applications for its engineering and medical entrance examinations.
The Oztern Technology, a leading provider of Cloud Computing Solutions and Services, has already hosted the crash courses online through EntranceWisdom.com.
Students can purchase a subscription for this crash course from the website or from the nearest Akshaya centre to practice for the entrance examination from their home. The online course provides 25 model examinations for each subject that cover the entire syllabus and 50 chapter wise model examinations each of which can be attempted 25 times. This 45 day crash course is priced at Rs1500.
Students are provided with detailed reports at the end of each examination on their performance, highlighting the students’ strengths and the areas that need attention. This helps the students identify the time taking areas and help them sharpen their skills in these topics.
“With the drastic increase in the number of engineering and medical colleges in Kerala, the objective of a student is not only to gain admission but to study in a reputed institute. To achieve this, it is very essential for a student to obtain a high rank in the entrance examination,†says Saiju V Stella, CEO of Oztern.
He said that the online course will help the students in improving their ranks. He said that online course will be highly suitable to the students in the Gulf, who come to Kerala for professional education after higher secondary.
P C Thomas has already launched a correspondence course for the Gulf students with provision for contact classes in Kerala during their school holidays. Interestingly, the admission for the contact classes for 2012-13 has been closed. The correspondence course cost a student $1000.
