Self Defense and Security Training in Technopark.

Women must become more alert about their safety and security, opined City Police Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar IPS. He was speaking at ‘Basic Self Defense ‘ seminar jointly organized by TechnoparkToday and Rampart Services for the women employees of RMESI the other day. The Commissioner expressed surprise when he came to know that no one among the group had Women Helpline numbers in their mobiles. He asked the girls to take note of helpline numbers like 9995399953 or 0471 1091 and make use of the numerous facilities provided by The Kerala Police effectively to ensure their security.

Subbayah Sankaran IAS, Goverment Secretary (former Excise Commissioner of Kerala), enumerated with clear statistics from the Crime Records Bureau that rate of crime against women are rising. Criminals are in all the levels of the society, jobless people to IAS officers are also becoming the victim or culprit of sexual harassments and other grave crimes against women, and this is an alarming problem, he added.

Adv. Anu V. Nambalikaran, Director of Rampart Services then Conducted the Self Defense Class and Introduced to the girls the “Rampart System Of Basic Self Defense”. The System consisted of methods for Becoming Aware of the surroundings, ways of being Alert to danger, ways to Avoid becoming a victim, How to take Action in the face of a danger, knowing the basic Anatomy of human body to effectively nutralise an attacker and also trained the participants in a series of Self Defense Attacks to incapacitate any kind of violent assailants. The Rampart System also consisted of a set of simple, effective moves to be practiced at home, for 15 minutes daily, that ensured that the women will be able to respond immediately, without fear, in case of an emergency/ danger.

“It is a really good program, and before attending this training i had no idea about how to save myself in case such an incident heppen, But now i’m very confident and i know how to react to such a situations ” – says Haritha an employee from Technopark

In the wake of increasing crime against women, Technopark today and Rampart services are organizing free self defense classes for female and male employees of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram. So far more than a dozen companies have registered for the seminar. Any group be it Clubs, Women’s organisations, Schools, Colleges, Companies etc intersted can make the best of these Seminars.
