Shutdown Fails to Cripple Technopark Functioning

TechnoparkToday.Com>> Sparing a few incidents, the 48-hour shutdown called by various trade unions failed to cripple the functioning of Technopark.   Most of the companies recorded 85-95 percent attendance on the first day of shutdown.  Senior Business Development manager of Technopark, Mr M Vasudevan told media on Tuesday that there was more than 80 percent attendance in most of the companies.

Meanwhile, some trade union members tried to block Technopark employees at main gate in the morning.  However, police intervened and issues were solved without causing much inconvenience to the employees.  Stones were pelted to one of the convoys and two women employees reportedly injured.

Since most of the Technopark employees depend either on company cabs or private vehicle, reaching company was not an issue for most of them.  Only a few are using public transportation and special convoys were arranged for them with adequate police protection.  Some companies have arranged accommodation in nearby Hotels and Technopark guesthouse.  The restaurants inside Technopark also functioned smoothly.

A day’s shutdown may badly affect IT and ITES companies, but it was the concerted effort of Technopark authorities, police, and employees that helped in smooth functioning of Technopark, while the entire state was under the grip of hartal.
