>>Nobody was surprised or shocked at the highest number of hits received by the recently uploaded ‘Prthvirajappanâ€episode since we have the worst history of humiliating our own breeds in all possible ways.   Our cricket star Sreesanth and SashiTharoor, the best diplomat this country has seen after V.K Krishna Menon, are a few to mention who are being fully throttled by us in the name of comedy or satire.  Bitter thanks to the modern times of YouTube, Face book, Emails, Twitter etc, all these ribaldry find thousands of viewers within hours of uploading.  This should put us in the biggest shame because our much cherished method of criticism has lost its disinterestedness and literary values there by taking every one of us to a mediocre world.
Kunchan Nambiar who opened our ears to the ever best satire and comedy would be turning in his grave disgusted by these levels of criticism to achieve somebody’s sadist ends.  Prthviraj is not an actor of the highest standards which he could embellish any story in a way converting it to the best of Malayalam or Tamil features, but within the limitations of our modern film industry he is doing his best to deliver something to keep the industry alive, thereby push the lives forward of many who somehow survive with this industry.
The only mistake he has made in his life is his agreement to sit before a controversial interviewer who has put many in deep trouble, and shockingly, without any compunction leaving the seat when he found it was going to get hotter once he like the majority estimated that the veteran politician of Kerala would be back to rule again. Â For him, every person before him is a kidney merchant and questions them to find out his meretricious qualities rather than his meritorious services to mankind.
Actors like Prithviraj should be cautious how words of them can be twisted and twisted until it harm themselves. Â It does not mean they should shy away from media and get cocooned somewhere. Â They should join the struggle to develop a mature audience who understand art in its deserving manner. Â Do not go too personal on TVs because the majority of viewers do not see things voyeuristically. Â This should be more understood by people whom being watched closely by many. Â The interviewers like to trifle with others but remain sober, and entertain the viewers, not the advertising managers of media.
couple of points.
1. It is fine to criticize any actor (including prithvi), but the target should be his proffession, not his personal like
2. Though i agree with most of his (pritvi’s) view points, his comment about knowing english – simply NONSENSE
3.We need to accept the fact that we are crossing our limits while criticizing others (weather it is Santhosh Pandit, Sreesanth or Prithvi or even the author is this post)
4. The way Brittas handled the interview was – HORRIBLE
5. Though i agree with most of the points putforward by the author, i dont understand why the stress was given to Prithvi alone (considering the fact that there were may such keralites who were cruelly humiliated by media/public)
Thought I just missed some points,
In this so much speculated interview, some comments from Prihviraj were too chidish and immature.
One thing that he says is that he just invested his money in a so called revolutionary movie named “Urumi” for the purpose of upgrading Malayalam Cinema, and he is not buying any estate or other personal profit interests like other actors do.
First of all it is one’s own interest to where he should invest his money, may be its estate, or films or textiles or exporting or even “BUYING AUDI CARS”, etc…all that matters to him is his profit. And of course Mr Prithviraj by aiming in making a world class movie, is for sure looking for the profit out of it and of course it should be like that coz its his money.
But to be honest Urumi was just an average film with the same plot which we have been seeing over the decades all the way from the Satyan Nazir era…simply saying it is just the “same old wine in a new bottle” with a combined package of some fine camera work and visual effects by Santhosh sivan.
But is he the only actor who has produced a movie( as far as his views are concerned), have u heard of another actor who has produced about 12 movies and out of which 7 of them were named classics in the malayalam film industry, including “Bharatham, Kamaladalam, Kalapani, His Highness Abdullah, and also Vanaprastham (Winner of the National award for the best film), well its is none other than our own Lalettan.
In another segment he is little boast fully saying that i was once selected as the best actor by kerala govt.,and Mohanlal and Mammooty has never called him or appreciated him.
To be frank let me ask you a question is this the way you want to gain some respect.??
Well..again it also depends on the individual himself whether he should gain respect by giving respect to others or by simply “begging” for it.
Now categorizing these two actors acting as youngsters, well in the film Sooryagayathri were Lalettan acts as a father of an engineering student or the movie kamaladalam, or uncle bun he was only 30 or 31.And mammooka, have acted in a variety of roles in which he has to depict a person of age above 60 or 70 while he was in his 30s.
And for the award part, just take a look at the figures
Mohanlal – rank of honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army,Four National Film Awards( 2 best actor, one special jury, one producer), six Kerala State Film Awards, The Padmashri, and doctorate..
Mammooty – three National Film Awards, seven Kerala State Film Awards, eleven Filmfare Awards,The Padmashri, and doctorate..
This is not a comparison but when Prithviraj critizes these two actors…. from a normal man’s view point I just feel like a “student is critisizing a university.” or like a water tank is critisizing the sea. or …whatever..!!!Sorry iam not good in giving out examples…but simply its so silly…and more over a pity…
I may a little sound like a lalettan fan and ofcourse itz a truth but these are facts. This is why Mohanlal and Mammootty are called as lalettan and mamookka by every malayali, i mean MALAYALI..not MALLU craps…and they will be like that even if they are a 100 years old.
@giri …good comment
@giri – good comment, this should be put as the main article
@giri : awesome comment man \m/ .. They(Mammoka nd lalettan) have earned this respect where as this fellow is actually asking for respect . My point is that can prithuvi raj can play a role something similar to Bharatham or dasharadam or Pappude swatham appose …
@ giri.. good finds.
@ Author…. your comments pending…!!!
Mammootty and Mohanlal are just the business people, than the good artist. they are sellers of art rather than an artist. they are selling themselves for the brands from safety pin to vaattu charayam.
@sajudan …Art is not just an ordinary commodity like fruits or vegetables or other provisions ,so that any body can sell it.Anyway I will list some of the best businessmen in the world( according to your view )
Sachin Tendulkar
MS Dhoni
Amitabh Bachan
David Bekham
