Finally, smart opportunities have come knocking at the doors of job hunters in Kerala. Putting an end to the wait for starting the construction works of Smart City Kochi, Tecom, the promoters of the project, has invited applications to various top posts for carrying out the work.
According to www.smartcity.ae, the official website of Tecom, the company wants a construction manager, document controller and senior engineers for design, mechanical and engineering services, buildings, infrastructure and cost control.
Kochi is set to become a predominant destination for the information and communications technologies (IT/ITES) industries. Being developed as a joint venture between SmartCity, a member of Tecom Investments, and the Government of Kerala, SmartCity Kochi will be home to vibrant knowledge-economy communities worldwide, anchored by leading local, regional and global companies, the site says.
To assist in achieving this vision, SmartCity Kochi is currently recruiting resultoriented, self motivated and dynamic professionals in these disciplines, the website says.
It was after clearing many hurdles that the Tecom and the Kerala Government signed a fresh lease agreement giving a new lease of life to the Smart City Kochi on February 23. Then, on March 2, the Union Government issued a special economic zone (SEZ) notification for 131 acres of the 246 acres handed over to Smart City project. The Union Government had already given the final SEZ approval for the 131 acres. The state government has started measures to secure SEZ status for the balance 115 acres.
Tecom had made it clear that the construction work would begin immediately after the issuance of the SEZ notification.
The construction of the boundary wall and the administrative block will be started on the 131 acres of land for which the SEZ notification has been issued. The works of the master plan for the project has almost been completed.

With this, Technopark will be on the verge of its closure and trivandrum will be removed from IT map of India.
All new companies will invest only in kochi. Ayyo poya Trivandrum poya.
Next tenure is for UDF to rule, during this period LDF will never ever permit any development activities to take part in Kerala
Vinod,
That is not correct, if you look in to the development caused in the LDF govt term, you can see that was many fold than any other UDF govt.
Technocity, SEZ in Technopark/Infosy, Cyberpark, Cherthala Park, Kundara park, Smartcity and many technolodges are happened at the time of LDF govt.
What do you mean by the development? just giving all the rights and resources to any foreign investment company to do whatever they want in our place? a planned and accurate deal should be done when you are going with a deal with any investment company. otherwise it would cause many problems in future.
Renji,
I am neither LDF or UDF support. But I strongly disagree with you.
Focus of LDF was to build IT parks far away from existing parks in trivandrum kochi. Such IT parks are absolutely of no use. No investor will prefer to invest in small towns or villages.
During this LDF tenure, neither technopark nor infopark, saw huge investments coming. It was during last UDF, Land was alloted to Infosys and US Software. Both technocity and smartcity are the idea of previous governments.
Infact the Decision on smartcity got delayed and It badly affected IT prospects of our state. Techocity inaguration also delayed. Overall LDF lacks a growth oriented vision for IT sector.
yes, but if we think it without being in to any of the sides, no matter which govt comes, the over all growth of the kerala is not at all going to change drastically. the problem with UDF is they are totally corrupted, and they just need money, and they wont be caring anything else.
It’s a response of mixed feelings, let us wait and see what happens after 5 years from now
